Events during EMS Week 2007 -  May 20-26

Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's "front line.

"As this year's theme emphasizes, EMS providers are dedicated to saving lives, even putting their own lives on hold as they respond to medical emergencies," said Dr. Brian Keaton, president of ACEP. "They do this every day without special recognition, which is why we are recognizing EMS providers this year as extraordinary."

The weeklong series of events will include national and local activities to honor EMS providers (paramedics, emergency medical technicians, first responders, fire fighters, and police), and to raise public awareness about health and safety issues, including how to prevent injuries and what to do in a medical emergency.

Wednesday, May 23    9 a.m.  - North Star East School Visit

We visited the students at the North Star East school in Kantner, PA.

The students had the opportunity to tour the ambulance.  Students learned what happens when EMS is called and what they should expect to see when we arrive.

Kid's night!

In observance of this special day to celebrate EMS for Children we hosted evening of education and fun for the kids.  Some of the events will included crafts, educational activities, and games.

Saturday, May 20    8 a.m. - 3 p.m. -  Hooversville Community Center

Adult CPR/AED and Infant Child CPR Class

Once again we planed to host the the American Red Cross course listed above to members of our community at no cost to themselves.

Having our community trained in the use of an AED and CPR would be a huge benefit.
Time is against us!   For every minute that CPR and the AED are delayed we loose close to 10% of our chances.

The public can make the difference!

This event was cancelled due to a lack of interest
